Stratosphere Las Vegas Review

The history of the north Strip icon Stratosphere began over thirty-seven years ago with Bob Stupak’s Vegas World.

Vegas World was a space-themed property that closed in 1995 to make way for the Stratosphere hotel and casino.

The property contains a separate building for its 2,427 hotel rooms and 80,000 square feet of gaming space. The tower — somewhat resembling the Seattle Space Needle — is recognizable from anywhere and is the tallest free-standing structure on the west coast of the US at 1,149 feet. The top contains an observation deck, the Top of the World restaurant, and several roller coaster and thrill rides.

For loyal Stratosphere players

Ace Play is the Stratosphere’s loyalty club, which also serves Arizona Charlies and Aquarius in Laughlin.

Like most players clubs, Ace Play is tiered. Besides welcome bonuses in points and coupons, the free-to-acquire entry level Ace Play Blue card affords players 21 and over 10 percent discounts on the buffet and most restaurants at Ace Play properties. Discounts and point multipliers increase through the orange, green and red tiers.

Digital, mobile: Poker and casino

Despite not being the most lavish or highly bankrolled property on Las Vegas Boulevard, the Stratosphere’s owner, American Casino and Entertainment Properties, was one of the first Nevada casino companies to invest in an online poker platform.

Well before the launch of WSOP.com, poker fans had access to Ace Play Poker. Eponymous to the casino loyalty program, the Ace Play poker platform used Ongame software, well-respected software used by real money gaming sites in both Canada and Europe. Briefly in 2012 the site even retained the likeness of Eli Elezra as its sponsored pro.

Even though Ace Play received approval for a Nevada interactive gaming license (to offer real money online poker) years ago, the site remains free to play and only offers play-money games. Though the site offers a reasonably full set of poker games and variants from the traditional Texas Hold’em to Omaha, stud and draw games in different betting styles, it is fair to say that Ace Play will remain play money only for the foreseeable future.

Players looking for both a free-to-play mobile casino experience have Ace Play Casino found at aceplaycasino.com or on the Apple / Google Play app stores.  New players begin with 5,000 virtual credits which appear in game as dollars.

Similar to other gaming in-app purchases, players have the option to purchase more virtual credits via credit or debit card. You can log in daily to earn additional credits. Note that virtual credits cannot be exchanged or redeemed — the virtual currency is for entertainment purposes only.

Users can experience a plentiful lineup of new and classic video and traditional reel slots. Twin Spin, Money Rain and Dragon Pays along with Roulette Royale, Blackjack Pro and China Shores are just some of the popular Ace Play titles.

The virtual casino even has a VIP section for players who have at least 20,000 credits in their accounts. Users can earn enough credits by playing non-VIP games or purchase additional credits.

Visit Ace Play on social media to redeem bonus codes and earn more credits.  Become a VIP to unlock even more games.

Leaderboard

Have what it takes to be at the top? Ace Play popularizes the first names and screen names of jackpot and big credit winners.

Promotional winners during giveaway times can generally be found on the Ace Play blog. One spin is all it takes to be at the top of an hourly or daily leaderboard.

Even on an ordinary workday morning, reaching the top among an active player pool of 10,000 is commendable. Nearly ten times that many unique users will log in per week on average.

What’s new?

Ace Play Casino’s refer-a-friend program awards current and newly referred users with an additional 1,000 virtual credits for every signup.

Refer friends and family by entering their email addresses or on Facebook. There is no limit to the number of referrals a user may have.

Players enjoy new titles like Tornado: Farm Escape, a 5-reel, 20-line VIP slot game by NetEnt. Spin to access special features and earn bonus credits through wilds on the reels.

Industry update on online gambling

With the launches of Ace Play poker and Ace Play casino, it is evident that the Stratosphere’s owners foresaw the impact and prominence of mobile and online gambling.

Nevada’s regulatory bodies have modernized to award interactive gaming licenses to many brick-and-mortar Las Vegas casinos and their software partners.

New Jersey and Delaware are also leaders in online casino gaming. Operators in both states report continuous revenue growth. The respective governors of Delaware and Nevada signed a compact that opens up poker player pools, allowing users from the First State and the Silver State to play legal, regulated online poker against each other.

Pennsylvania, a state with roughly the population of NV, DE and NJ combined, has seen a major transformation in casino gaming in recent years. With several land-based casinos opening in the past decade, online gaming proponents are hoping that the state legislature will award interactive licenses similar to these states.

Don’t stop the party

The view of the Las Vegas valley from the top of the Stratosphere is unparalleled. But know that even 1,000 feet above Las Vegas Boulevard, any smartphone or tablet is also a mobile casino.

Though Stratosphere’s real-money poker action is only found on the gaming floor, if American Casino and Entertainment Properties does ever decide to move forward with real money poker, they have in place the key pieces — a license and software.
